Rotary Clothes Line

Thanks to my lovely friend Mark, I now have a rotary clothes line cemented into my garden.

It was £19.99, from Argos.

I did already have a washing line, but you have to stand on the grass to use the full length of it.  With all the inclement weather we have had over the past year, including last summer's never ending rain, I have been discouraged from pegging my washing out.  I only very occasionally resorted to the tumble dryer, but want to reduce the amount of damp laundry hanging about around the house.

Superscout and I had a great time in Norfolk. Will write a post tomorrow.

Mini Break

Tomorrow superscout and I are off to Norfolk for our The Sun £9.50 pp mini break.

At that price, I am not expecting much, so anything nice will be a bonus.

The petrol to get there will be more expensive, because it is a 4 hour drive!

All that said, I am really looking forward to it. Fingers crossed.

Plus before that I am off to Ceroc tonight.

Hidden Saving.

I knew that I would have to buy supercout and the teenager new school shoes this Easter.

I have done so online.[Clarks]

I tried buying superscout cheaper ballet pumps, but they just fell apart,. They simply could not take the walking to school.

Anyway, this morning,it dawned on me, that I could order them online, which I have done.

So, the hidden saving is the petrol, parking and snacks/lunch out.

[I looked and looked online to find discount voucher codes, but sadly could not find any valid ones]

That said, I have never really got the hang of cash back sites.

I KNOW IT IS EARLY DAYS FOR THIS BLOG AND FOLLOWERS,BUT IF ANYONE OUT THERE HAS ANY ADVISE RE CASH BACK SITES, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

Merrange and lemon[ish] loaf.

Yesterday. the teenager and superscout returned.  So far, so good. No arguments to  report!

Once they were settled back in, and I had got their laundry going, I made:

  • Some merranges, with left-over egg whites. [I shall freeze them and get them out for a treat, when I see some super reduced cream.

I also made a homemade cauliflower cheese, which I have not photographed yet.  I used an Aldi packet mix  [36p] approx and a cauliflower which had been reduced to 45p in the Co-Op.

Today is going to be quite expensive, because both the teenager and superscout need new school shoes. However, we are going to explore the possibility of getting them re-soled.  We shall see.

Lentil, carrot and oat burgers

Well I can report, they tasted delicious.

[I think I have scratch on my lense, but hey ho]

Easter Sunday

Yesterday, I had an extremely relaxing, yet domestic goddess type day.

I made some lentil, carrot and oat burgers.

Thanks FRUGAL GRADUATE.  I have not eaten them yet; some are for today.

Then I made the most delicious treat of a meal:  Smoked salmon dauphinoise.

I used this recipe, without the celeriac, because I did not have any:

I ate some of this last night and it was DELICIOUS.

No major cooking today, because I am off to Ikea.

Asparagus etc

Yesterday, I deliberately went to Tesco at time when I thought they might be reducing.

I got 3 really good reductions:

Asparagus reduced from £2.50 to 63P

I had about a third as part of my meal last night; a treat.  The stalks were quite long, so I cut quite a bit off the bottom.  However, I saved the bottom bits and will use in a quiche, or some other way.  HOW ECONOMICAL AM I?

'Ruby Slaw' reduced from £2 to 31p

A City Kitchen Duck Noodle dish, reduced from £3.95 to £1.19

Superscout loves these, so it will be an economical Friday or Saturday night treat for her.
