At this time of year, I am partial to coucous, occassionally.
The last time I bought some, it was approx 35p. This time it cost 62p! At first I thought it was a mistake. Sadly not.
On the other hand, following on from a post and comment by Frugal Mum, instead of buying these:
£2.00/kg |
£0.63/kg |
£1.37/kg saving.
I plan to grated/slice them and freeze them ready for use.
Thats a big saving, glad i could help. All the little things really do add up x
ReplyDeleteThey are now sliced and in the freezer, thans to my food processor.
Deletei buy my (plain) couscous from our local african supermarket where it is a lot cheaper than in the regular supermarket and you also get a lot more of the quantity. Then you can season it yourself whatever way you like.
ReplyDeleteGotthisfar - time and again it comes through on blogs that buying authentic and unprocessed is best and more economical.
DeleteTesco seemed to have really hiked up their prices of late, we buy batter mix in the small packets, used to be 7p now 15p. Also their own stock cubes were 10p now 20p. These are just a few I can remember but I know theres quite a few more.
